One-stop shopping for Secretary of State and County Clerk coming to Sterling Heights with foreclosure prevention counseling
People needing a birth certificate to get a driver’s license or a driver's license to get a birth certificate will have one-stop shopping next week in Sterling Heights thanks to a partnership between the Macomb County Clerk / Register of Deeds and Secretary of State Ruth Johnson. County clerk staff will be in the Secretary of State’s Sterling Heights branch office at 7917 19 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, MI, which is West of Van Dyke, on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visitors to the Secretary of State’s office can get help with Macomb County birth and death certificates, business registrations, marriage licenses, circuit court records, voter registration, concealed pistol license applications, real estate deed requests and veteran ID cards. This service is convenient for residents who need one of these documents to conduct business at the Secretary of State’s office.
The Macomb County Clerk is also partnering with MSU Extension (MSUE) to bring county services closer to residents near Sterling Heights. Macomb County’s MSUE office will send a foreclosure prevention counselor to provide free and confidential information on the mortgage and/or property tax foreclosure timeline & viable options to save their home. Eligible homeowners facing mortgage foreclosure may also benefit from foreclosure prevention counseling with a MSHDA-certified housing counselor. For more information visit MiMoneyHealth.org.

Johnson has been a longtime proponent of mobile offices to save customers time and even gas money. As the previous Oakland County Clerk, she launched that department’s first mobile office, partnering with local libraries across the county to host the full-service mobile office. As Secretary of State, she has continued to offer a full-service mobile office that travels across the state.
