Contest Rules

  • Contest is open to students in grades K-12 who are residents of or attend a school within Macomb County, Michigan. One entry per student is permitted. Participants must have a current, past or future teacher sponsor their entry. Teachers may sponsor more than one participant.
  • Designs must either incorporate the words “I Voted!” or have space for words to be inserted for sticker production. The design must be created in a medium and size that can be easily replicated as a 2-inch diameter circle sticker. See contest design template for guidance.
  • Designs must be in full color and can be created using any 2-D medium (crayon, colored pencil, paint, digital, etc.) Designs produced digitally are also acceptable, however all elements of the design must be the participant’s original work and must not have been taken, in whole or in part, from another source or represent the work of anyone other than the participant.
  • Each entry must include an artist’s statement between 50 and 200 words explaining how the design relates to the theme of “YOUR VOTE/ OUR FUTURE”. (Not a requirement for K - 2nd Grade students)
  • Judging criteria will include use of creativity, artistic skill, execution, and interpretation of the theme of “YOUR VOTE/ OUR FUTURE”.
  • The design from the winning entry will be printed on stickers and made available to local clerks for distribution to voters at voting precincts and via absentee ballots across Macomb County, Michigan during upcoming elections. Other notable designs will be featured on a calendar produced by the Macomb County Clerk’s Office.
  • Participants and teachers will be honored at a reception/ art show in spring 2020.
