Marriage License Application System During Pandemic

IMPORTANT NOTICE!  The Macomb County Vital Records Division (located at 120 N. Main St. First Floor) has limited access to the public.

At least one applicant needs to be a Macomb County resident with proof of residency (current driver's license or State ID).

Please follow these basic steps to apply for a marriage license:

STEP 1)  Use the "Online Creation Tool" to create your Affidavit of Marriage (please do this only once).

  • CLICK HERE to launch the "Online Creation Tool"

  • Make sure to check your email account after creating your application for two emails.  Your completed application affidavit will be attached to the second email (it is a good idea to double-check the email address that you entered into the application for accuracy).

STEP 2)  Use the "Online File Tool" to upload your NOTARIZED Affidavit of Marriage, driver's licenses of both applicants and other documents to the Clerk's Office (please do this only once).

  • CLICK HERE to launch the "Online File Tool."

  • You may also send the Affidavit of Marriage by mail (Macomb County Clerk, Attn: Marriage Records, 120 North Main, Mount Clemens, MI 48043), but please note that this will add 7-10 days to the application process.  CLICK HERE for more information.

  • CLICK HERE to make an appointment to visit the Macomb County Clerk's Office Vital Records Department at 120 N Main in Mount Clemens.

STEP 3)  You will receive a phone call when two original copies of your marriage license (good for 33 days) will be ready to be picked up in our lobby (120 North Main in Mount Clemens).

PLEASE ALLOW TWO TO THREE WEEKS PROCESSING TIME!

ALERT! PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE CLERK’S OFFICE FOR APPLICATION STATUS UPDATES!
