Building Michigan’s talent pipeline
Ask a top employer for a significant barrier to goal achievement and you are likely to hear that finding qualified candidates to fill their open jobs is a number one concern.
Ask a high school student for their plan for making a living once they graduate and you might be hard pressed to hear an actual job title combined with a solid plan for gaining the necessary credentials to be employed as such.
If only there were a way to connect employers with their future workforce . . .
MI Bright Future is a safe, one-stop place for employers to connect with students and offer guidance as they explore career options. These connections can be made anywhere with an Internet connection.
The effort is supported by a diverse group represented by educators from K-12 and beyond, area employers and workforce development specialists who want to enhance an existing technology for all schools in southeast Michigan.
Career Cruising Inspire (ccInspire) is a software program that our schools currently use to create a state-mandated Educational Development Plan for each student.
MI Bright Future’s enhancement makes it possible for students and educators to learn about and connect with local employers and community mentors.
Through e-mentoring, message boards and company profiles, ccInspire will connect what’s happening in today’s classroom with current and projected needs among local employers.
The goals of MI Bright Future are to:
Promote: High-demand careers and education pathways to high school students across the region.
Engage: Thousands of regional employers in job shadowing, mentoring, company tours and other strategies to help students learn first-hand about the most viable career options and education pathways.
Develop: A policy platform that would help promote further career exploration in K-12 and college, supporting the discussion of educational attainment through a focus on job readiness, exposure and awareness.
